Do Harris County Judges Want Crack Pipe Cases Back?

For all the ballyhoo in both primary races (yes, there are two) to be the next Harris County District Attorney about so-called "trace," "residue," or "crack-pipe" cases, no television or print reporter has asked arguably the most important constiuent group, other than the accused, whether they want these types of cases prosecuted again -the twenty-two judges of the Harris County Criminal District Courts. So far - I haven't heard of a single sitting criminal district court judge publicly complaining that these cases are no longer on their docket. As unscientific as that may be, their collective silence on a matter so important to police and prosecutors is deafening.

Will somebody please rid us of this troublesome silence and start polling judges and judicial candidates on this question?
